Technical Evangelist

Job Type: Full-Time

Mozilla is creating more than just a web browser. Mozilla believes in making sure the web open and available to everyone. From students working in their spare time to venture-funded startups to multinational IT megaliths, developers all over are building web pages and applications. Some develop a simple web page, others write whole new applications, but together they all contribute to the richness of the web experience for people around the world.

To help them create web applications with the best open technologies, Mozilla provides documentation, tools, millions of lines of sample code, discussion forums -- and you. You're the guy or gal who can help a web developer turn their starry feature-dream into real html and javascript. You're the one they turn to when the chips are down. Part hacker, part evangelist, part project manager, you're all about making sure developers have the knowledge they need to turn out really cool, cutting edge apps.

Responsibilities:

• Creating demos that show off new web technologies
• Working with the Mozilla Developer Network community to produce docs and sample code for web developers
• Review of platform and application features as they affect web developers
• Helping web developers take advantage of the latest capabilities of web
• Evangelizing the latest web technologies, as well as the tools that Mozilla creates to make them easy to use.
• Recruiting others and building out the community of web developers who promote open web technologies.
• Representing Mozilla at key developer events. (Or assisting the Mozillians who do.)
• Tactical assistance with bug hunting in Mozilla technologies

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Several years of lead or senior web developer experience
• A record of leading projects and getting them out the door
• Best-of-breed web technology experience (JS, DOM, CSS, XML, HTML)
• Experience working with online communities, building and leading one is a plus
• Experience with open source software and development a plus
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
• Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity
